Liquid Surface Densifiers

Liquid surface densifies are being used extensively in warehouses and manufacturing facilities to chemically seal, harden and dustproof concrete surfaces. These materials penetrate into the concrete to densify the concrete (note: the use of flyash cement replacement will reduce the effectiveness of liquid hardeners). Over the first few months, cleaning with a power scrubber produces a shiny appearance as this chemcial reaction develops.

Liquid densifiers are not curing membranes - they do not retain or maintain a mosture content for the cement to hydrate. Some liquid densifier manufacturers claim that a chemical cure occurs which is equal to normal curing methods.

The typically application of these products is as a single flood coat of 200 sf / gallon which is permitted to penetrate into the concrete for a period of approximately 1 hour (application rates, material qualities and methods vary between manufacturers - always refer to the manufacturers printed instructions for guidance).

Theses materials are maintenance free becasue the are a part of the concrete and not applied as a coating on top of the surface of the concrete. This is a large advantage over conventional floor sealers which typically require re-coating in high traffic areas over time.

These materials are water based and therefore pose no health risks or appplication fume concerns to other trades or building occupant during their application. As soon as the floor dries, it can be reoccupied again.

Achieveable floor tolerances are reduced by the application of conventional aggregate floor hardeners and the schievement of Super Flat floor tolerances with improved surface hardness can be obtained by using a low water:cement ratio concrete mix combined with a liquid densifier.

It is always best to send us an e-mail with your particular circumstances and we will be happy to assist you with your project.
